TALLAGHT Village has said goodbye to one of its longest employees, who spent the past 43 years working in the local chemist, reports Mary Dennehy.

At the age of 14, Carol Dunning started her first job in O’Leary’s chemist in Tallaght Village which, located beside the old H Williams supermarket, has over the years become a Uniphar and now, a Lloyds pharmacy.

As the face of the village changed, one aspect that remained the same was Carol, as she stayed put in the village pharmacy for more than four decades due to its “great customers”.

Speaking with The Echo, Carol said: “I have spent 43 years working on the same street in Tallaght Village, it really is an end of an era for me.

“I will miss all of the great customers, it was the customers that made me stay all those years… I really did love all of the Tallaght people.”

On Friday, May 25, a retirement party was staged for Carol in Molloy’s Pub, Tallaght Village.

“It was sad last Friday in Molloy’s,” Carol told The Echo.

However, I’ll definitely pop back up to the village to see everyone.”
