Catalysts for creativity: Poetry Ireland announces ‘Ireland is’ tour

POETRY Ireland has announced details of ‘Ireland Is’, a series of five spoken word and live music performances taking place in autumn of this year in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Galway, and Longford, reports Ryan Butler.

This tour will run every day from September 27 until October 1 and feature acclaimed poets such as Colm Keegan, Felispeaks, Hollie McNish, Danez Smith, and Erin Fornoff, as well as live performances by JyellowL in Dublin, Strange Boy in Limerick, Olympio in Cork, Siomha in Galway, and SOAK in Longford.

The artistes will highlight contemporary Ireland and explore themes of race, gender, body image, relationships, feminism, equality, love, resilience, and more, relating to identity and social justice through their performances.

Poet Colm Keegan, who is from Clondalkin, states that “A poem can be a great start to a conversation”, and they “can be powerful catalysts for self-expression and creativity.”

‘Ireland Is’ will be performed at the Axis Ballymun in Dublin on September 27, the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick on September 28, the Everyman Theatre in Cork on September 29, the Black Box Theatre in Galway on September 30, and the Backstage Theatre in Longford on October 1.

All of these performances start at 8 pm.

Tickets are priced between €18 and €21 and can be bought directly from the venues. For more information, visit poetryireland.
