AN UPGRADE currently underway to the Citywest Hotel is expected to finish by the end of the year, with €13 million invested by its owner, Tetrarch Capital.
The upgrade has already seen a refurbishment of the hotel’s pubs, with plans to open a new restaurant to coincide with the refurbishment of the hotel lobby, lounges and all public areas by the end of the year.
It saw a 20 per cent increase in its revenue last year, leading to a 20 per cent increase to its staff over 12 months, bringing the overall team employed in the hotel to 420.
Speaking about the investment, Damien Gaffney, managing director of Tetrarch Hospitality said: “Since taking ownership of the hotel, we have worked hard to strengthen its position as a market leader in conferencing facilities in Ireland.
“Our €13m investment signals our confidence that Citywest delivers the best conferencing and event hosting option in the Irish market.
“It is extremely rewarding to see so many major international organisations and blue-chip companies choosing Citywest as their preferred location for large-scale events.”
The hotel attracts a strong mix of guests, with 55 per cent domestic and 45 per cent international, with upgrades to its conference centre to cater to the needs of US and EMEA conference markets.
John O’Farrell, general manager of Citywest Hotel said: “We are absolutely delighted with the upgrades being made to the hotel as part of this substantial investment.
“We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality stay to all of our guests.
“Under a new management team and new ownership, the hotel has been transformed into the pre-eminent destination to hold events with style and scale.”
