TWO groups of young people from Jobstown-based Citywise Education, which offers after-school and out-of-school educational support for young people, visited Dublin Zoo this month with the help of Citywest Hotel.

The local hotel teamed up with the educational charity to bring two groups of 45 children and ten volunteers, one group on July 18 and the other on July 25, to the zoo and included transport, zoo tickets, and refreshments for the volunteers in Citywest Hotel after the trip.

A spokesperson for Citywest Hotel said: “We are aware of Citywise and the great work they do within the community.

“We employ many talented local people and these employees are the backbone of our team.

“We are eager to work with an organisation that works to support and develop the local community.

“As a hotel we have built our business on the importance of leisure, fun and downtime.

“Based on this we felt that the zoo day initiative was the ideal fit for Citywest Hotel to support Citywise.

“Citywest Hotel proudly supports this initiative and feels that every young person should have the best educational opportunity available to them, to offer them the best start for life and their career.”

The zoo visit was a full day excursion, and a hotel spokesperson said that the hotel is “excited” about working closely with Citywise in the future “to further assist the students in their journey”.
