Clonburris church and school celebrate 40 years

Our Lady Queen of the Apostles National School and Church, Clonburris, Clondalkin are celebrating their 40th Anniversary with a series of celebratory events from October 8 to October 14.
Clonburris Church and School were both established in 1978 and are housed within the same building in the Clondalkin parish.

Thousands of pupils from the Clondalkin parish and beyond have been educated in the School since it opened its doors and it currently has an enrolment of 560 pupils.
Ex-pupils and parishioners will gather for the series of celebratory events to commemorate the milestone and reminisce about times past,
The main celebration will be held in the Red Cow on Friday, October 12 with a night of music, cabaret and memories. Tickets are currently available from the School, priced €15.
There will be a Mass for the Community at 11am on Sunday, October 14 in Clonburris Church followed by a cup of tea and an opportunity to reminisce.
The school children will have a series of events and activities during the week including a School Mass and a visit from the Garda Band.
Past pupils and parents are asked to spread the word so that as many as possible are informed of the week’s celebratory events.
Clonburris Spirit
Despite all the changes over the 40 years the “Clonburris Spirit” has remained the same among the 560 pupils and staff, many of whom were not even born when the school opened.
Seán McNamara, Chairperson of the Board of Management, said the school is looking forward to the week of celebration and the visit of the Garda Band.
“All the children will be making 40th Birthday Cards to be kept on record to mark the event.
“A number of past pupils will be performing at the 40th Celebration in the Red Cow. This will include some songs, music and Irish Dancing.”
