

Clondalkin and Tallaght fighters off to European Championships
BOTH Bushido Clondalkin and Tallaght Martial Arts will boast members in the Irish squad that will contest the WAKO European Junior Championships to be held in Skopje Mace-donia from September 3-10.
Four members of BMA Clondalkin, namely Karyna Nikitina, Dean Scanlan, Zach Lamari and Amy Wade will line out in the event.
Nikitina, a World and European Junior champion in the -60kg Points Fight-ing and Light Continuous fighting disciplines, is moving up to the -65kg weight division at these championships.
Seventeen-year-old Dean Scanlan, competing in the Junior Boys -69kg Light Continuous category, won his Irish title in April, while 10-year-olds Amy Wade and Zach Lamari will be making their debuts for Ireland in the -37kg Cadet events, for boys and girls.
Tallaght Martial Arts will, meanwhile, have 12 fighters in action, among them being Troy Gannon (Junior – 63kg) Points Fighting and Light contact medallist at last year’s WAKO World Champion-ship in Ireland
Jodie Browne (Older Cadet -60kg Points Fighting) is also strongly tipped to do well having won silver in the WAKO World Championships and two golds in the Hungarian World Cup.
WAKO World champion and European silver medallist Conor McGlinchey will take his place in the Junior -74kg Points Fighting division.
Naoise Colvin, a gold medallist at this year’s Irish Open, competes in the Older Cadets -42kg class while 2016 World Championships Light Contact gold medallist, Eadaion McCrave will be going for the same in the Older Cadet -55kg field in Macedonia.
Adam Condon, a Junior -57kg Points Fighting and Light Contact WAKO World Champion, will be pushing strong to top the podium again.
Among the other Tallaght Martial Arts Club representatives travelling with the squad to the competition will be Leá Farrell (Junior -50kg Junior Points Fighting WAKO silver medallist), Tola Adebisi (-60kg Junior Points Fighting WAKO silver medallist), Kate Cassidy (-55kg Junior Points Fighting WAKO silver medallist), Rebecca Kelch (-50kg Junior Points Fighting WAKO bronze medallist), Adam Smith
(-79kg Junior Points Fighting WAKO bronze medallist) and Luke Smith (-63kg Junior Points Fighting and Light Contact WAKO silver medallist).
