Clondalkin Celtic take a major step forward

CLONDALKIN Celtic FC took another major step forward last weekend when they played their first games in Deansrath Community College.

The club has been expanding rapidly over the last four years and has found itself under pressure to provide playing facilities for their members, but securing the use of Deansrath CC has provided a much-needed pressure valve for the club.

Indeed the club’s senior side currently rents a pitch in Greenogue while the Saturday outfit is based in Clondalkin Community Centre which also caters for the Academy as well as Under 13 and 14 teams who were, incidentally, the first outfits in the club to play their matches in Deansrath last weekend

The club’s Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 11s will be based in Deansrath when they return to action soon.

“Since we got schoolboy football back in the 2014/15 season and then the Academy in 2016, we’ve gone from having 45 players to 181,” explained Clondalkin Celtic Chairman Wayne Muddiman.

“The local TDs tell us we’re the fastest growing club in West Dublin and so we’ve been working with the principal in Deansrath who has been fantastic in trying to help us out.

“All the players are from the local area in Deansrath and Bawnogue. We cater for boys and girls of all abilities and no one is turned away from this club.

“We will be grading players in accordance with the FAI Player Development Plan and we have other plans in the pipeline,” he added.
