Clondalkin Health and Wellbeing event showcases local services
THE Clondalkin Health and Wellbeing Showcase was recently held in the main hall of Rowlagh Community Centre.
The showcase was organised in partnership by Keith Ryan, Health Promotion and Improvement Officer with the Health Service Executive (HSE) and Ola Elian, Community Health Coordinator for the Clondalkin Health Project with South Dublin County Partnership.
One of the main aims of the showcase was to inform the public of the services that are available in their locality and also to provide general health information.
“It was for members of the public to come in and see what’s free in the community and an opportunity for health professionals to come in and network with each other,” said Mr. Ryan.
“There was definitely a good crowd and good feedback,” he added.
“There was a good flow of the general public coming in during the day.

There were approximately 25 service providers showcasing their services at the event.
These included the Resource Officer for suicide prevention HSE, South Dublin Age Friendly service, Clondalkin Tús Nua and Clondalkin Men’s Shed.
There was also an interactive element to the showcase.

Music on the day was provided by DJ Booth. “Gerry Horne of the South Dublin County Council (SDCC) Arts Office brought the decks,” said Mr Ryan.
The showcase also had a smoothie bike.
“This is a custom-made bike with a blender at the front. As you cycle, it blends the ingredients to make a smoothie, so with physical activity you make healthy food,” Mr Ryan said.
