Clondalkin’s Precision team prepare for big contests
CLONDALKIN Gymnastic Club’s Precision Display Squad is in training for a number of big competitions both at home and abroad over the coming months.
Indeed, 10 members of the team will travel to Newcastle at the end of the month for an International Acro Competition followed by an Irish contest in November.

They are also in training with a new routine and new moves for another major tournament in the UK in February.
The team was recently requested to perform at the Italian Embassy as part of the Lucan Festival and that evening they celebrated their 10-year anniversary with family and friends.
The team was formed in 2008 by Julia Toomey who has been the Team Manager ever since and four of the original members are still on the team today; Yvonne Kavanagh (now Team Coach), Sophie Toomey, Fiona Tapley and Emma O’Brien.
The team first represented Ireland at the World Championships in Austria in 2009 winning a bronze medal, before they continued on to win trophies in Leeds in 2011 and again in 2012 when they also travelled to Glasgow where they won both individual honours and the overall team trophy.
They returned to Glasgow in 2013 and once again emerged with the trophy.
The following year the team took part in a competition in Disneyland Paris and won silver before returning to Glasgow in 2015 and again scooping the trophy.
In 2016 the decision was made not to compete that year as the team were training to represent Ireland at the 2017 World Championships in Norway.
This competition takes place every four years and the team wanted to give it their best shot, which they duly did, winning silver and subsequently becoming the highest ranked Irish squad ever at this event.
Earlier this season the team took part in Ireland’s Got Talent reaching the Final stages.
