Clondalkin Unplugged music and poetry come together at open-mic night

A night of variety has been organised by a local woman on Friday, August 10, in an effort to raise as much money as possible for Clondalkin Animal Aid.
Returning after a successful first outing, Clondalkin Unplugged is an open-mic night that aims to bring together music and poetry and its organiser Kasey Shelley hopes to raise as much as they did from last year’s event.
28-year-old Kasey said: “Last year was such a success, and there was a good turnout. We ended up raising €700 for Clondalkin Animal Aid and hopefully this year will be the same.”
Clondalkin Unplugged starts at 8pm in Rory’s Bistro beside Boomers Bar in Clondalkin and is set to feature plenty of local acts, with Kasey saying that entry to the event is a €5 donation.
She added: “It’s a €5 donation for tickets to the show with all money raised going to the Animal Aid, and we do a raffle on the night full of great prizes as well.
“We’ll have the usual bottles of wine, and we’ll have So Sue Me! prizes up for grabs too. It’s great because a lot of local businesses get involved so it really is a night about Clondalkin.”
The spoken word artist then continued, saying: “It’s a night where local talent get’s a chance to get up on stage and perform. I will be doing one poem right at the start of the night to get the show going – but that’s just because nobody likes to go first.”
