A mother of two from Clondalkin decided it was time to take the plunge and lose weight when she realised she was setting a negative example for her two young children, particularly her eight-year-old daughter Ruby.

Now, five months after joining Slimming World, Paula McLoughlin is five stone lighter. She is loving her new look, is feeling much healthier, and is amazed at how her lifestyle change has made such a difference.

She explained: “I’ve gone from using two inhalers a month to control my asthma to not needing to collect a new prescription for some months.”

On her first night at Slimming World Paula felt nervous, but knew that losing weight was something she really wanted to do.

She was inspired by a man who was receiving his six-stone award that night and when he explained he had achieved it by eating lovely meals, which included curries, pasta dishes, burgers and chips – all the things she loved – she felt excited about the week ahead and all the foods she could eat.

Paula attends her Slimming World group every week and has made some lifelong friendships.

She said: “My consultant Josephine and her group helped me every step of the way, especially on those tougher weeks.

Losing five stone has helped me regain my confidence and self-esteem. I’m living a whole new world thanks to Slimming World.”

Paula, who went from a size 22 to a 14, has decided she wants to share her success and help others who are struggling.

She opened her new group in Rowlagh Community Centre on Tuesday night at 7.30pm and anyone interested in joining can cotnact her for more information on 085-8109812.
