Co-op housing apply to extend planning
By Maurice Garvey
CO-OPERATIVE Housing Ireland have applied to extend planning permission duration for the development of 72 three-bed homes in Cherry Orchard Park, reports Maurice Garvey.
CHI, formerly Nabco, were granted an extended planning permission in 2013, and are seeking another five years duration from Dublin City Council.

Work on the €15 million social housing development started in 2016.
Planning permission was first granted for the development in 2007, but Nabco couldn't proceed at the time due to the downturn in the economy.
A number of residents objected to the plans at the time, and again prior to construction work starting up, citing the loss of a local amenity and over proliferation of social houses in the area.
Threatened
In January 2017, gardai agreed to increase their presence at the site, after builders were threatened by an individual looking for protection money.
This led to emergency meetings with all major stakeholders involved in the project, including site developers CHI, Dublin City Council, gardai and local politicians.
At the time, CHI said there was no firm deadline for completion of the project.
The application to extend the planning permission for the development includes associated ancillary site development works and landscaping.
This included new access roads off Orchard Lawns and Blackditch Road, along with the installation of footpaths, boundary treatments, and two ESB substations.
