Colepark topple Tymon

COLEPARK United continued their unbeaten start to their LSL Premier One season, picking up their first win of the campaign thanks to an assured and dominant performance against hosts Tymon Bawn in Brady’s Field on Sunday morning.

Influential striker Adam Wasser netted a penalty in each half, as well as providing an assist for left-back Simon Coyle’s wonderful counter-attack goal, but in truth the scoreline could have been much more one-sided, as Tymon remain without a league point thus far.

In a scrappy opening quarter in which both teams struggled to find their rhythm, the only real opportunity fell the way of Tymon Bawn, as centre back Shane Fox headed over from winger Daniel Mahon’s dangerous corner.

Nonetheless, Colepark soon started to take control of possession and enjoy some success as Wasser converted from 12 yards after attacker Tadhg Byrne was felled, having beaten Tymon ‘keeper Andy Jones to right-back Aaron Collins’ ball forward.

This began a crucial three-minute spell, with Colepark almost handing Tymon an equaliser within a minute of breaking the deadlock, as hosts’ striker James Sullivan capitalised on some sloppy defending to win the ball in an advanced area and draw a smart save from goalkeeper Jordan Sheridan.

However, United then doubled their lead after a fantastic counter-attack from the resulting corner, as Collins put Wasser through on the right-hand side, and he squared the ball for Coyle to coolly finish.

This concession of a quickfire double left Tymon stunned, and they went close to going three behind moments later, as Jones’s clearance was intercepted by Colepark midfielder Lee Curley who strode forward, but the ‘keeper got down well to atone for his error.

The Ballyfermot side were proving tough to break down, and were also making life difficult for their opponents at the other end, finding the net again shortly after the interval when midfielder Dean Coleman played a good ball down the left flank for Wasser, who drove infield before being fouled by forward Colin Coleman and duly dispatching the subsequent spot kick.

With the result now all but decided, the game became quite loose, and the Tallaght side almost exploited this for a consolation goal when Sullivan fed Mahon to strike, but Sheridan parried away.

Colepark’s passing had been superior for long spells, and they cut Tymon apart once more with a great flowing move involving midfielder Kenneth O’Connor and Wasser, only for Curley’s eventual header to hit the crossbar.

The introduction of substitute Aaron McGarry gave United fresh impetus, as he forced Jones into a good save, as well as hitting the post from a tight angle, before setting up Wasser one-on-one for his hat-trick late on, but Jones denied him to keep the scoreline respectable.
