Comedy Calls: Irish comedy headliners
The Irish Comedy Headliners have continued their streak of daily sold-out shows at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023, reports Ryan Butler.
Event organisers said, ‘’There’s been a proliferation of Irish-themed stand-up comedy shows at this year’s Edinburgh fringe, with huge interest in most Irish shows. Irish comics are renowned for quality comedy, and they’re popular because people know they’re going to be of a certain standard.
‘Irish Comedy Headliners’ is a programme that showcases the comedic talents of Irish people. “Every day, our host, Ian Perth, a Tallaght native and Edinburgh-based comedian, hosts a selection of top-class Irish talent.”
Popular acts include Paddy McDonnell, Aideen McQueen, and Jack Hester.
There is a buzz of anticipation surrounding Tallaght native Al Porter.
‘’Al has been warming up for his Edinburgh solo show and has been in devastating form, wowing Edinburgh fringe crowds.”
The programme’s goal is to sell tickets for a low price, provide a good atmosphere, and entertain guests with Irish comedic talent.
‘Irish Comedy Headliners’ runs every day until August 27.
