Community Council appeal for no posters in village area

Tallaght Community Council (TCC) have made a public appeal to all candidates and parties contesting the local elections and European elections to show their support for Tallaght Village Tidy Towns by not placing election posters within the area they maintain for the competition.

TCC, the main driver of Tallaght Village Tidy Towns, are entering the competition for the second year this month.

The Tidy Towns national competition closed for entries on Wednesday, May 8 for 2024.

Judging for the national competition is unannounced and takes place in June, July and August across the whole Tidy Towns area.

The adjudicators look at litter, cleanliness, biodiversity, street furniture, estate entrances and approach roads critically and score each category.

The full reports are available publicly in September.

The Tallaght village Tidy Towns group cover an area including Westpark, Bancroft, TUD Tallaght campus,  the Old Bawn Road (to Maelruains Court), the Whitestown stream, Glenview, Main Rd, Main Street, Greenhills Rd, Goosepark and Newtown Pk.

TCC have already received formal confirmation from several local election candidates of their voluntary commitment to the poster free zone.
