Community invited to Walk of Compassion in Tallaght Village
By Mary Dennehy
THE community is invited to be part of a Walk of Compassion through Tallaght Village on Good Friday, March 30.
Open to everyone, of all faiths and none, the walk will pause along the way at places in the village where people provide care and compassion to members of the community.

The community-led services providing support within the village area that provide support and care to homeless people, cancer patients and their families, people struggling with mental health issues, older residents and more.
One of the groups taking park in the Walk of Compassion is Cheeverstown, which has a training centre on the Airton Road and a drop-in centre called Chess on the High Street.
Cheeverstown provides opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities through life skills training, which includes work placements.
Tim Ryan, who is part of the operations team at Cheeverstown, told The Echo: “[Through our two Tallaght premises] we help people to become independent and seek employment opportunities for them.
“We also offer support if they have any difficulties or challenges with using public transport etc.”
He added: “We’re delighted to be taking part in the Walk of Compassion and are looking forward to celebrating the work we do and celebrating and supporting the work the other groups in the village do.”
Showing solidarity
According to the organising committee, the Walk of Compassion is a “way of showing solidarity with members of our community who at this time are going through difficulties and need support from our caring services” – with many of these services in-and-around the village.
Members of caring services and others are invited to share a one-minute reflection, thought or prayer at each stop along the route – which will begin at the Priory before traveling to the Dancers statue, Molloy’s car park and back up through the village to the courtyard of St Maelruain’s Church.
The Walk of Compassion, which is now in its second year, will be held on Good Friday, March 30, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, and all are welcome.
