Company seeks permanency for Ballymount petrol station
By Laura Lyne
EMO Oil has sought out perman-ent planning permission for its unmanned petrol station located in Ballymount.
The petrol station, which has been operating on the site since April 2015, was granted temporary planning permission for five years in August 2014.
The decision on the application is due by September 5, with third-party submissions on the application accepted until August 15.
A time limit was attached to the granting of permission due to concerns from South Dublin County Council surrounding the impact it would have on traffic and congestion.
Emo Oil, which trades as GreatGas, is now seeking to make the planning permission permanent after tracking the traffic flow for the area and recording a minimal increase in the area.
In its application, it stated that the maximum number of vehicles on the forecourt at one time was 38 during a day randomly recorded during June.
It said: “The actual number of vehicles using the facility is significantly lower than the predictions of the TRICS analysis in the Traffic Impact Assessment submitted as part of the original planning permission.
“The actual numbers using the facility are significantly less than the figures used in the Traffic Impact Assessment submitted in the original application.
“On this basis we request that a full planning permission is granted to this existing development.”
