Competitors from 18 countries take part in Esker Cup
430 BOXERS from 18 countries, spanning three different continents, travelled to Lucan last weekend to take part in the seventh annual Esker All Female Box Cup.
Esker Boxing Club originally started the competition with 80 boxers back in 2013 and now it has gotten “as big as it gets” with competitors jetting in from all over the world to take part in the event held in CBS Lucan.

With almost 200 bouts taking place and 330 boxers weighing-in to box, this year’s tournament was the biggest it’s ever been.
Every competitor taking part received both a medal and a certificate for taking part, while several belts were handed out for individual achievement.
Drimnagh Boxing Club’s Georgia McGovern was awarded the Best Overall Boxer accolade while Esther Lambe from Setanta BC won Best Juvenile Boxer. Jacey Birch from Kent Gloves BC in England won Best Youth Boxer, Cliona D’Arcy from Tobar Pheadair BC won Best Irish Boxer, Jaismine from India won Best Elite Boxer, Emma Hannon from St Carthages BC won Best Novice Boxer, Josefien Betist from RBV Crooswijk in Holland won Best Prospect Boxer and Alexas Kubeki from Poland won Best Overseas Boxer.
Also, Olive Keogh and Liam Brereton were awarded the Esker All Female BoxCup Hall of Fame Award with Karl McLoughlin from Drimnagh BC being named Best Referee.
