A FORMER teacher at Moyle Park College, Clondalkin is holding a concert in aid of Médicins Sans Frontiéres (Doctors Without Borders) in Gaza, on Haddington Road.

“It’s on this Friday [April 19], it’s highlighting Gaza. Current pupils and past pupils are on board,” said Máire Ledwith who is organising the concert, which will be held in St Mary’s Church, Haddington Road, Dublin 4.

Performing at the concert will be special guest Julie Feeney. “It’s a very tight-knit community here,” said Máire.

4 in a Bar will also be performing. “They are professional singers but they also do fun stuff, Jazz, uplifting stuff,” said Máire.

Before the concert there will be a wine reception. The concert will begin at 7.30 pm and, with an interval, is due to finish by 10 pm. A raffle will also be held at the concert.

Tickets for the event are €20 which can be purchased on Eventbrite or at the door. “It will cost €50 for a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children,” said Máire.

After leaving Moyle Park College, Máire set up Máire Ledwith Singing Studio which is in its 25th year and which is located on Haddington Road.

Máire also had a huge musical input in Moyle Park College when she worked there.

A trained soprano herself, Máire studied under Veronica Dunne.

The concert is highlighting Gaza. “We need to get supplies into Gaza,” said Máire, who also provides one-to-one tuition and some ensembles at her studio.
