SUBMISSIONS are being invited from the community for plans for a number of traffic-calming measures, including ramps and roundabouts, at more than 80 locations around the county.

South Dublin County Council has allocated €200,000 for these traffic-calming measures, which will be subject to available funding over a three-year period.

The plans include a roundabout at Lindisfarne Grove and Lealand Road

There are plans for 25 traffic-calming measures in Tallaght, 26 in Clondalkin, 22 in Lucan and 26 in the Rathfarnham and Templeogue/Terenure electoral area, which will mainly consist of the installation of ramps.

It is proposed that there will be two roundabouts on Rossfield Avenue in Tallaght and at the junction of Rossfield Way and Rossfield Grove, and one roundabout at the junction of Lindisfarne Grove and Lealand Road in Clondalkin.

There are also plans for bus speed cushions on Esker Meadow View and Castle Road in Lucan, and Stocking Avenue in Rathfarnham.

Clondalkin Fianna Fáil councillor Trevor Gilligan said: “I get a lot of residents requesting traffic-calming measures, but when you look into it, a lot of neighbours are against them, or a neighbour is against a ramp directly outside their house.

“Some areas were proposed, but were removed as estates might be 50/50 in favour of ramps.

“Hopefully, if people make submissions the right decisions will be made.”
