Councillor slams “scumbags” who brutally killed man in Tallaght last night

A local councillor has blasted the “scumbags” who he says beat a man, drove over him and then kicked him while he was not moving – all leading to his death in Brookview in Tallaght last night.

Sinn Fein’s Cathal King, a family friend of the deceased man, named locally as Stephen Lynch, said at least four men attacked the father and used “a car as a weapon” before leaving him to die.

Initial reports suggested that there had been a hit-and-run incident on Brookview Close at 7pm, with the driver of the vehicle apparently fleeing the scene.

In a statement last night, Cllr King said: “This evening a group of individuals/scumbags beat him around Brookview and ran over him in a car and continued to kick and strike him while he was visibly not moving.

“They made sure they had killed him. This was all done in front of the play space in broad daylight in front of the kids that were playing there.”
