A SOLICITOR who is married to a local Fine Gael councillor will try to scoop the jackpot on Winning Streak this weekend, and a Luas driver from Kingswood in Tallaght will also be looking to boost his bank balance on the RTE show tonight (Saturday).

Mary-Claire Coakley (39), from Bohernabreena, is an experienced solicitor who has worked in the legal profession for more than ten years, and she is married to Rathfarnham Fine Gael councillor Conor McMahon, who is the brother of Templeogue-Terenure Renua councillor Ronan McMahon.

Mary-Claire, who is originally from Cork, said she was left “dumbstruck” when her name was pulled out of the Winning Streak drum, and the newlywed said she is hoping to spend any winnings from the gameshow on a trip along the west coast of the US with Conor so they can finally go on honeymoon.

Meanwhile, Kingswood’s Tony O’Reilly (58), is hoping to stay on-track when he takes to the Winning Streak stage, where he will be cheered on by Carmel, his wife of 37 years, and their children Christopher (39) and Jennifer (33).

The tattoo enthusiast is hoping to add to his already impressive collection of ink with his winnings from the show, but he also remarked that his winnings will “be coming in one hand and going out on the other” as he hopes to pay off a substantial amount of his daughter Jennifer’s upcoming wedding.

RTE will be running a Dancing with the Stars special programme of Winning Streak this weekend, where one of last year’s Dancing with the Stars celebrity contestants will be matched with one of the five Winning Streak players to encourage and help them navigate through the game.

The five Irish celebrities who will be encouraging and helping the players will be Des Cahill, Teresa Mannion, Hughie Maughan, Thalia Heffernan and Dayl Cronin.

You can see how Mary-Claire and Tony get on by tuning in to Winning Streak on RTE 1 tonight, Saturday, March 24, at 8.20pm.
