A SERIOUS ASSAULT took place in a Tallaght schoolyard in front of young children, Talllaght Court has heard.

A man was stabbed in the head repeatedly by Anvar Ghambari, the court heard.

Tallaght Court June 2016

Judge Bridget Reilly heard that some of the children missed a few days of school as they were too traumatized to return.

Ghambari, aged 39, with an address at Cushlawn Way, Tallaght, is charged with assaulting Majiid Suharbi causing him harm and with producing a metal bar during the assault at a school in Tallaght on March 1, 2016.

Garda Stephen Murray told Judge Reilly that the DPP had directed summary disposal.

Judge Reilly asked what was alleged. Garda Murray said it will be alleged that at 9am on March 1 last there was an incident between Ghambari and another man in a schoolyard.

He said it will be alleged that Ghambari went off and got a part of a bicycle to use as a makeshift weapon.

He said that Ghambari allegedly stabbed the other man a number of times in the head with the weapon. Garda Murray said it was a broken stabiliser from a bicycle that had been sharpened.

Judge Reilly examined a medical report.

Garda Murray said that the victim was not the only injured party.

He said it will be alleged that the assault happened in a schoolyard where there were children aged as young as four and five.

Garda Murray said some of the children had to take a few days off school as they were traumatised after the incident.

He said it will be alleged that the injured party was left in a pool of blood and the children had to step over the pool of blood.

He said that the parents association had a meeting with the board of management after the incident.

Referring to the medical report, Judge Reilly noted that the injured party suffered a two centimetre wound to his left ear and three superficial wounds to the face. She said that there was no reference to any head injuries.

Garda Murray said the injured party had suffered cuts to his head which were treated with staples and glue. Judge Reilly said she would need further information before considering jurisdiction.

She remanded Ghambari on continuing bail for a month to consider jurisdiction.
