Creche and preschool rooms in JADD are transformed
THE creche and preschool rooms in Jobstown drug project JADD have been reinvigorated after staff from software company Adobe volunteered to paint them last week.
A team of 40 staff members from the company painted the two rooms last Wednesday and Thursday, to the delight of JADD staff and clients.
Tommy Gilson, manager of JADD, said centre staff had aspirations for the two rooms to be painted for some time and Adobe staff made this a reality.
“With their manpower, we’ve been able to transform our creche and preschool,” Mr Gilson told The Echo.
“And they brought all of the materials, tools and paints.”
The project was spearheaded by staff from Adobe’s Citywest office, namely Carlotta, Laura and Brian, and is the latest act of support from the company in their, over ten years of, support for JADD.
Explaining what it was like when the volunteers were in JADD, Mr Gilson said: “There was a great atmosphere and dynamic about the building, there was a bit of a buzz.
“The service users were surprised and amazed that a local company would be interested in them.
“It was brilliant, and they didn’t only come to paint the rooms – they spent a lot of time talking to service users too.”
The two rooms have been transformed for the 18 young children, aged between one and four-and-a-half, who attend JADD’s creche and preschool service.
“The kids were excited coming into the rooms on Friday and Monday,” added Mr Gilson.
“And for the parents, it demonstrates our commitment to the quality of the building.”
