He has played with the club from Under 17 level up, and in that time, played his part in winning five league titles, and various cups, including the prestigious Intermediate Cup competition.

He also represented the Ireland amateur team, and helped them reach the Regions Cup finals.

The Echo spoke to Crumlin United manager Martin Loughran who was full of praise for the midfielder.

“He came to us from Ballybrack aged 17 and, bar a period playing with another team for about 18 months, has played for Crumlin from then til now” said Martin.

“If you ask most people in this club, Danny would certainly be in their top ten all-time players of this club,  and any cup competition there was, he won it” he added.

Loughran has been helping coach the senior team in the last two years, and his future plans centre on coaching other Crumlin outfits as well.

On another note, the club has also announced the staging of the inaugural ‘Robbie Keane Academy Cup Tournament’, which will take place in May.

The competition will feature a host of top clubs from abroad, and there are hopes a big Italian side will be making their way to Dublin in May.

Two major English clubs have been confirmed with the remainder expected to be announced over the next few days.
