DAIRE Hennessy has been appointed the new CEO of Citywise Education in Jobstown, as Jonathon Doyle recently stepped down from the role to begin a new chapter in his career.

Mr Doyle has been at the helm of Citywise since 2019, leading the work of the service which provides educational resources and opportunities for young people in the area.

A native of Kiltalown, Mr Doyle previously told The Echo: “I’m from Kiltalown, brought up in a house with my two brothers and only my mam.

“I’m just like the kids who walk through these doors [in Citywise] today.

“Everyone is able to achieve their potential, I am in no way unique.

“The way we look at it is, people come into Citywise with all the information, we just give them the confidence.”

Mr Hennessy, a graduate of Trinity College Dublin who was previously a young member of Citywise, and a volunteer and employee, was appointed CEO of Citywise last week.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Hennessy, who is also from Tallaght, said: “It’s an honour to take on this appointment because Citywise has meant so much to me personally.

“Citywise, including many of the people still working and volunteering today, have had a transformative impact on my own life and across the local community.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team, board, volunteers and young people to continue to strengthen communities through youth education.”

Citywise was founded in 1991 and was established in Tallaght in 2004 with the construction of a purpose-built facility for the service called the Durkan Centre.
