By Leopold Herter
As already announced a few weeks ago, Olympic Gold medallist Michael Carruth from Walkinstown and Clondalkin’s Mary Kennedy are two of the 11 participants, who are among the contestants in this year’s series of ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
RTÉ announced their partners with dancer Karen Byrne paired with the former boxing champion Michael and Mary dancing with John Nolan.

Together the Dubliner Duo, Michael and Karen, will try their best to delight the audience with their various dance styles they will perform each week.
Michael is especially looking forward to learning some new dance techniques.
“I hope it’ll teach me how to dance, you know what I mean? I’m one of these lads who normally goes to a party and all the girls get up and dance and all the boys sit down, so yeah!”
With the start of this year’s series this Sunday, Michael is ready to show his newly learned skills to the nation.
Mary Kennedy
So is Mary Kennedy, who got paired with the current Dancing with the Stars champion John Nolan.
“I’m quite petrified but I’m looking forward to learning new dances and doing something different”, said the 65 year old television personality.
With John, Mary is in good hands, as the pro dancer is aiming to make it a back-to-back win.
How the dancing duos do on stage can be seen weekly, starting on Sunday, January 5.
