Davis aim to maintain rapid rise

WHEN Thomas Davis beat Crumlin in the Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship semi-final, they were automatically promoted to the top ranks as a result of reaching the decider, subsequently making club history.
Since their establishment in 1888, the Kiltipper outfit have been a predominantly football club until they created their first hurling side just 40 years ago and they have enjoyed a rapid rise since in that code over recent seasons.

In 2015 and 2016, The Little Village were a mid-table side in the Intermediate Champion-ship, but in the back- ground, the club where making moves with new head coach Johnny McGlynn.
He was brought in to help guide the club to the Senior ‘A’ Championship in what was a five-year plan, and he saw them past Na Fianna in the Intermediate Championship Final in 2017.
In their first season in senior hurling, Davis’ made it to the semi-finals in 2018 where they were downed by Faughs, but with the help of their strength and conditioning training with former Dublin Senior Hurler David Donnelly, they made the leap to the final this season.
By making that title match, both Davis’ and Scoil Ui Chonaill have guaranteed themselves a place in the Senior ‘A’ Championship.
Davis’ have an ever-expanding squad of quality with Dublin Senior panellist Davy Keogh and Lory Meagher Cup winner with Leitrim Zak Moradi particularly dangerous when on the ball.
Both Davis and Scoil will lock horns in the tournament showpiece in Parnell Park this Saturday at 5pm but before that, on the Friday night, Round Tower Clon-dalkin will be vying for a spot in the Intermediate Championship Final.
Tower played out a thrilling 1-23 a piece draw with Erin’s Isle two-weeks-ago and they will do battle in the replay at 7.30pm, also in Parnell Park.
After going all the way to extra-time in the original contest, the Finglas side where seemingly on course to progress to the final round as they lead with just moments left.
But three points, two from Liam O’Connor and a last gasp puck by Alex O’Neill left the side’s deadlocked after 80-minutes.
Whoever wins on Friday night will contest the final against a Clontarf outfit that beat Kilmacud Crokes 4-11 to 1-11 in the other semi final.
