Dazzling Christmas tree wins Echo prize
A LUCAN woman was delighted when she found out that her dazzling Christmas tree won The Echo’s annual Christmas tree competition this week.
Rosie Kirwan, who lives in Laraghcon, decorated her Christmas tree with her husband Seán and with some artistic input from their daughters Ruby, Lucy and Holly.
“We always love Christmas time, like everyone else, and decorating the tree is part of the build-up to Christmas,” Rosie told The Echo.
“Our children are all grown-up now, but there’s still a lot of excitement – they don’t really help to decorate it much anymore, but they have a lot of artistic input!”
It took Rosie and Seán several hours to decorate their vibrant and festive tree, during which they drank mulled wine and listened to Christmas music to get in the festive spirit.
“It gave us a real sense of it being Christmas,” said Rosie. “There’s a lot of excitement, and it is an exciting time.

“It’s lovely time of year where we know we’ll all get to get together as a family.”
Adding to the excitement was the news that Rosie won the Christmas tree competition, with her prize being a €100 shopping voucher.
“I was delighted, I was absolutely thrilled when I found out I’d won,” said Rosie. “I never win anything, I never even win an argument!”
When asked what she will spend her shopping voucher on, Rosie said: “I’ve so much Christmas shopping to do, I’m sure I’ll find something to spend it on, and my three girls will help.”
