Debut of ‘Fan Girl’: Taylor D knew exactly what sound she wanted
Clondalkin native Taylor D is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter and guitarist who has had a buzz of anticipation surrounding her rise to fame around the world, reports Ryan Butler.
Her highly anticipated debut EP, ‘Fan Girl’, is set to release on digital platforms on September 8.
Taylor Swift, Nelly Furtado, and The Weeknd are just a few artists who have influenced her music.
The songs on the EP also differ in tone, as the titular song is flirtatious and lively, whereas ‘Liar’ is more suspenseful and dark, appealing to fans of different genres.
This EP will feature all of Taylor’s original releases from this year, as well as two new tracks.
According to Taylor, ‘Fan Girl’ was written and recorded within five months, and “the idea of becoming a musician came to me when I was about 11 or 12.”
She continues, “I treat writing almost like my diary and base songs off reality,” and that recording went smoothly as she “knew exactly what sound I wanted for each track.”
Once she has built up a fan base, ideally through her launch party, Taylor is hoping to work on an album.
For helping her get to this point, Taylor would like to thank her first guitar teacher, Colin, for introducing her to songwriting, and her next guitar teacher, David, for introducing her to recording songs.
‘Fan Girl’ will release on digital platforms on September 8, and the launch party will be held at the CPM Club, Nangor Road, in Clondalkin on September 15, featuring the Dublin City Rounders, Kenan Flannery, and Hera.
Tickets are free but limited and can be reserved on Eventbrite.
