The Board was due to make a decision on October 21, but this has been put back to December 13.

Plans by Bartra Property Ltd for a nursing home at the site were approved by South Dublin County Council, but an appeal is currently in place with An Bord Pleanála,

Bartra is seeking permission for a 155-bed nursing home on green space beside the 162-year-old convent.

Members of the Save Clondalkin Convent campaign said they were informed by the board of the decision, but that they will “continue fight to prevent the sale of our convent for profit.”

After delivering 3,000 signatures to the Presentation Sisters last week, the group said the Sisters responded, thanking them for their correspondence, but stating that they do not wish to have discussions or meetings during the planning application process.

Save Clondalkin Convent campaign says there has been “no response from the Dublin Archdiocese to our letters.”

The group has been very active in recent months, organising a march last month which saw over 400 residents taking to the streets in the village to voice their opposition to the proposed development.
