Defending champs Jude’s into senior camogie final
DEFENDING champions St Jude’s senior camogie team progressed to the county final following their 1-8 to 0-7 victory over neighbours Ballyboden St Enda’s in Tymon Park on Sunday.
This was an evenly contested encounter with Cliodhna Nicoletti scoring the only goal of the game in the first half as Jude’s went in leading 1-4 to 0-4 at the interval.
St Jude’s senior camogie team qualified for the championship final on Sunday.
Nicoletti created all sorts of problems for the Boden defence as she accounted for two first-half points while Niamh Gannon and Ellie Young also found the range.
The three Gannon sisters – Aishling in the half forwards, Claire at half back and Niamh at midfield, worked hard for Jude’s while Eimear O’Riordan put in a solid performance at corner back.
Both teams scored four points in the second half with Aoife Walsh, Nicoletti and two Young points proved the difference at the finish.
Hannah Begley in goal for the winners was superb throughout as Jude’s held for a memorable victory.
St Jude’s will play St Vincent’s in the final after they beat Lucan Sarsfields in the other semi.
The final will be played on September 27.
