Disqualified driver crashes into a tractor and trailer and another car

A DISQUALIFIED driver who crashed into a tractor and trailer and another car on the Newcastle Road before fleeing the scene was jailed for four months by Blanchardstown District Court.
Judge David McHugh also banned David Doyle from driving for five years.
Passing sentence, Judge David McHugh told the court: “If a prison sentence was not deserving in this case, I don’t know when it would be.”
Doyle, aged 31, with an address at Castlegate Heath, Adamstown, Lucan, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, no insurance, no driving licence and hit and run-failing to remain at the scene, hit and run-failing to report the incident and hit and run-failing to keep his vehicle at the scene at the Newcastle Road, Newcastle, County Dublin, on June 26, 2017.
Garda Seamus Dolan told the court that at 2pm on the above date, a female had been driving on the Newcastle Road behind a John Deere tractor that was hauling a heavy load on a trailer.
He said they were headed towards the N7. Garda Dolan said a Mercedes–Benz car was driving at speed in the opposite direction. He said the driver, Doyle, lost control of the car and it crashed into the tractor, the trailer and the woman’s car.
He said Doyle spoke to the driver of the tractor and the woman before fleeing the scene.
Garda Dolan said that there were no injuries but the vehicles were extensively damaged.
The Garda said Doyle had 12 previous convictions.
At Ballyshannon District Court on July 1, 2016, he was fined €300 for public drunkenness. At District Court 46 on October 21, 2015, he received a four-year ban for no insurance.
At District Court 44 on March 25, 2015, he received a two-year ban for no insurance.
Doyle’s counsel, Ciaran McLoughlin Bl said nobody had been injured in the accident and added that his client had no previous for no insurance.
He said Doyle is a father of three children and works from time to time.
He said Doyle had borrowed his girlfriends car when he shouldn’t have.
Judge McHugh said: “There is also the small matter of your client driving while disqualified.”
He sentenced Doyle to four months jail with a five-year ban for the dangerous driving and fined him €300 with a two-year ban for no insurance. The other charges were taken into consideration.
Mr McLoughlin asked the judge if he would consider suspending part of the sentence.
Judge McHugh replied: “Not a hope this side of hell.”
