Double heartbreak for brave Kevin’s
DESPITE tenacious performances from both teams, St Kevin’s Boys and Girls in Kilnamanagh were denied in the Corn Chlanna Gael and Corn na Laoch deciders respectively in Croke Park on Monday.
The boys put up a great performance, but in the end lost out 2-11 to 3-9 against Gaelscoil Cholmcille in the Corn Chlanna Gael Final on Monday.

Early points from Seán McBride and Sam Sheridan saw the Tallaght side make the better start, but Cholmcille remained well in the reckoning thanks to timely scores from the likes of Oisin Ó Fionnalaigh and Scott Ó Casaide Mac Siúlai.
Still, it was Kevin’s who were four points to the good at the halftime break thanks in no small part to Luke Feighery’s goal.
It was end to end throughout the second half with Dylan De Buitléir finding the back of the net for Gaelscoil before Danny Burke responded in kind for Kevin’s.
Yet, when Scott Ó Brádaigh both won and converted a penalty, it was Cholmcille who edged in front and they managed to hang on to the narrowest of advantages to the final whistle.
Despite the heroics of Shannon O’Connor and Lauren McCabe in the Corn na Laoch, St Kevins GNS fell short of the mark as they were beaten 7-5 to 4-5 by Mount Anville.
The Stillorgan school shot into a convincing lead and kept the Kilnamanagh girls at bay for the entirety of the first half.
However, Kevin’s came flying out of the blocks in the second-half and a brace of goals from Lauren McCabe (sister of Ireland captain Katie McCabe) brought her side back into contention.
Coupled with an excellent display at centre-back from Karla Keoghane, full-forward Shannon O’Connor fired 1-2 for her side to haul them even closer to Mount Anville.
With the clock running down, midfielder Carla Muldoon linked up well with McCabe on several occasions as she chalked up a final tally of 3-3.
Aoife Kavanagh pushed the pace for Kevins from half-back in the dying minutes but the damage had already been done to St Kevin’s cause and it was Mount Anville who ultimately left victorious.
