DETAILED architects’ drawings are currently being prepared for the development of an all-weather pitch at the Belgard Community Centre – and the plans are due to reach the Part 8 public consultation stage in the coming weeks.

The plans for the all-weather pitch were raised at a recent meeting of the Tallaght Area Committee, and were adopted by the committee.

The new all-weather pitch will be developed at Belgard Community Centre

The all-weather pitch is to be developed on foot of a successful application under the Sports Capital Programme 2018, which saw the Belgard Community Centre being awarded a grant of €150,000 towards the development of an 80m x 50m 4G all-weather facility within their grounds.

The pitch is to be adjacent to the community centre, to replace the current natural playing surface and to maximize usage to the clubs that currently use the natural playing surface.

It was revealed at the meeting that South Dublin County Council’s Architects Department are now preparing detailed drawings for a Part 8 planning public consultation.

According to the local authority, it is anticipated the Part 8 public consultation stage will be advertised over the summer months.

Fianna Fáil councillor for Tallaght Central, Charlie O’Connor, said: “This is good news for the area, and I look forward to the project being progressed.”
