
Drugs seized in Tallaght search operations
DRUGS worth an estimated €478,000 were seized during two search operations in Tallaght on Wednesday evening.
According to a Garda statement issued, a vehicle was stopped on Cheeverstown Road as part of Operation Tara and in a separate incident, gardai conducted a planned search under warrant at a residential property in Tallaght.
Gardai said: “At approximately 8pm, last night gardai attached to the Serious Crime Unit at Tallaght Garda station stopped and searched a vehicle on Cheeverstown Road, Tallaght.
“During the course of the search cannabis herb with an estimated value of €100,000 (analysis pending) was seized.
“A female (aged in her 40s) and male (late teens) were arrested at the scene and taken to a Garda station in South Dublin.
“Both are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.”
The Garda statement added: “At approximately 9.30pm, a search operation under warrant was conducted by the Tallaght District Drug unit of a residential property in Tallaght.
“During the course of the search cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €378,000 (analysis pending) was seized.
“One man, aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene and taken to a Garda station in South Dublin.
“He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.”
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing, garda said.
