Dublin Co-Op to move operation to Kilmainham

THE Dublin Food Co-op are moving their operation to Kilmainham in early November.
The member owned consumer cooperative have also sourced a new warehouse in Parkwest.

Based in the Liberties and the city centre since it was established in 1983, the co-operative announced their purchase of a premises across the road from Kilmainham Jail and right beside The Lime Tree Cafe.
A statement by the co-op said: “For several years the Dublin Food Co-op has looked for a place to establish a more permanent home. After a huge amount of hard work by dedicated staff and volunteers, we have finally secured a home.
“We will also be running a click and collect shop for bulk orders from early November. Members can order products in bulk on our website and collect at our new warehouse in Parkwest.
“We are delighted to share this news and we hope that all of our friends and followers will be as happy as we are that we finally have a place to call our own for our community. We have a long way to go before we are ready to move in and we still have to raise funds for our fit out.”
The Co-op is one of the longest lasting sustainable food movements in Ireland.
They aim to provide people with direct access to high-quality organic food sources, directly from suppliers in Ireland, or buying foods in bulk from Europe.
In order to secure long term stability, they raised €7,500 through donations and selling lifetime memberships.
To reach an ambitious target of €20,000 to cover costs, they have established a Go Fund Me page with a target of €12,500.
