
268 dwellings planned for Adamstown

PERMISSION is being sought for the development of 268 dwellings and 552 car parking spaces in Adamstown in Lucan, as part of the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ).
Applicant Cairn Homes Properties Ltd submitted plans for the dwellings to consist of 184 two-and three-storey houses, 102 of which will three-bedroom houses, 67 will be four-bedroom houses and 15 will be five-bedroom houses.
It is proposed that the remainder of the dwellings will be apartment units, which will be housed in seven blocks which includes provisions for a creche and associated play areas.
The submission contains plans for Block 1 to be a four-storey L-shaped terraced block, which will house eight duplex units comprising four two-bedroom duplex units and four three-bedroom duplex units.
It is proposed that Block 2 will be a three-storey terraced block which will contain 12 duplex apartment units, while Block 3 will consist of 14 duplex/apartment units.
The applicant is also seeking permission for Blocks 4, 5 and 6 to consist of four duplex units each comprising two two-bedroom duplex units and two three-bedroom duplex units.
There are plans for the final block, Block 7, to be four-storeys high and to house 38 apartment units comprising eight one-bedroom units, 30 two-bedroom units, and a creche with access being provided from three access points from the approved east-west distributor road that bounds the site to the north.
The proposed development also includes part of the north-south road that will replace Tandy’s Lane along the eastern boundary of the subject site, with plans for this road to facilitate vehicular traffic, bus lanes and stops, pedestrian footpaths and cycle paths to the proposed development.
Permission is being sought for the demolition of one dwelling and an associated outbuilding located to the south eastern corner of the subject site, and temporary permission is being sought for two 4.5metre-high triangular pylon marketing signs to be erected in the north eastern and south eastern corner of the site, addressing Shackleton Drive and Central Boulevard respectively, for three years.
The application relates to part of the lands within the Adamstown SDZ known as Tobermaclugg Village.
South Dublin County Council has not yet made a decision on the application.
