Echo Sports Year in Review 2020: November

IT WAS a great month for local soccer in the top ranks of the domestic game as Shamrock Rovers finished off the season unbeaten in the Premier Division and raised the coveted prize while Peamount United prevailed in a tough winner-takes-all clash with Shelbourne for the Women’s National League crown.
FOR the third time in the history of the club, Shamrock Rovers completed a League of Ireland campaign unbeaten after they overcame Shelbourne 2-0 at Tolka Park.
Having secured the title with four games to spare the previous month, the Hoops raised the prize in November following their scoreless draw with St Pat’s in Tallaght Stadium.
After the heartbreak of losing on penalties to Glasgow City in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Peamount United not only completed the successful defence of their National League title, but also secured their place in the FAI Cup decider following their 1-0 victory over Wexford Youths.
Donore Harriers Athletic Club’s Abdel Laadjel secured a move to Providence College in Rhode Island where he will take up a full four-year athletic scholarship next August.
It was an unforgettable month for Tallaght MMA fighter Dean Barry who, just a couple of hours after penning a dream multi-fight contract with the UFC, welcomed into the world his new born son, Jayce.
There was disappointment for local clubs following the announcement by Basketball Ireland Men’s National Competitions Committee that it was cancelling the 2020/21 Super League and Division One league season.
Martin Loughran stepped down as manager of Crumlin United’s Intermediate team after 20 years in charge that saw the club grow to become one of the most dominant forces in the Leinster Senior League.
