Ella re-signs with the Hoops for new season

SHAMROCK Rovers have announced a host of players will be re-signing with their Women’s team ahead of the 2026 season.

Local  Tallaght player Ella Kelly is among them. The Ireland underage international featured heavily throughout the 2025 season and is delighted to be continuing on with the club.

“Everyone wants to play for Rovers, I think that’s it.”

Kelly was voted the clubs young player of the year last season and was nominated for the same award for the overall league.

“I just play and if awards come they come but it’s really good to be recognised. I’m really excited to start with James, he is really experienced and backs it up with everything he has won in the past.”

Plenty of other personnel have committed to the Hoops for at least another year. Maria Reynolds is set to undergo her eighth season and Mia Dodd is another who is set to make a return to Tallaght stadium after joining halfway through the season last year.

A veteran with Shelbourne, Bohemians and DLR Waves, Dodd now finds herself as one of the most experienced players in the side following the retirement of Aine O’Gorman and departure of Melissa O’Kane.

“You’re always looking to improve the team and help anyone in any way possible but especially the younger players might need advice and a bit of help along the way.”

Emily Corbett is heading into her third year at the club and will look to continue being one of Rovers main goalscoring threats scoring 12 last term.

“Last year was my first full season and I was delighted with the 12 goals but I do want to push on and get more again for this coming year.”

Keelin Comiskey is another who has re-signed ahead of the upcoming campaign. The Rathcoole native has impressed since joining the club and is among the brightest prospects in the team. Aged just 16, Comiskey is a regular feature in underage Irish national teams and will be hoping to get even more game time this coming season.

In a similar vein to Ella Kelly and Comiskey, young player Anna Butler has signed a contract extension following a successful campaign last year which really saw her break into the first team and become a valuable member of the squad.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing for Shamrock Rovers, it’s a big thing for me. We didn’t do as well as we should have last season so it’s a big challenge to push on this year. It’s very exciting.”
