Emily 7 – Tallaght band release first-ever ep

Tallaght band ‘Emily 7’ will release their first EP ever next Wednesday, November 13, since their formation in 2017.
Playing in places like Whelan’s and The Sugar Club, alongside artists like Bono, The Edge, Glen Hansard and Imelda May last year on Christmas Eve, and performing at this year’s Electric Picnic, gave Kyle Bellew, who plays guitar and vocals, and his brother Scott, on drums, the confidence to release their music.

Originally the two brothers didn’t aim to record their songs and release them.
This thinking changed after they played close to 150 gigs since early 2018.
In this time the band from Fortunestown managed to gain a fanbase, which makes them “feel the time is right to release something now.”
The only song they published online ‘These Days’ gained over a thousand streams on the digital music service Spotify. “We didn’t do any promotion or cause any fuss when we put it out there, but that still managed to get well over a thousand streams on Spotify without any promotion from us which is pretty cool,” the brothers told The Echo.
The young musicians are delighted with their development, but still feel strange when their fans join them singing the songs: “Now at our gigs people are up dancing and singing our songs back to us, which is pretty surreal.
“Choosing what songs to put on the EP was a no-brainer.”, they said about choosing which should find a place on the EP that will feature their fan’s most favourite songs.

The boys said that the music on the EP is raw, gritty and punky and presents their live gigs in the best way possible: “That’s what we sound like live, so we wanted to try and get recordings which best represent how we sound live – we’re very happy with the result.”
The plan behind the EP is that their fans do not have to come to a gig to listen to their music.
In terms of what the people can expect, the brothers explained: “People can expect punchy songs with sing-along choruses, which hopefully after hearing them will make them want to come see us live.”
When they release the EP next Wednesday, November 13, the band will celebrate the release in The Underground Venue, Dame Street, on Saturday November 16.
“The night of the launch will also premiere the music video for one of the tracks ‘Stephanie’ from the EP,” added the Tallaght natives, who have just printed 100 CD copies of their new EP.
