English on form after double marathon victory
KEVIN English has every reason to feel confident heading into this year’s Dublin Marathon.
The Kilnamanagh man will be pushing strongly for a very competitive time having recently clocked up two wins over this distance.
Indeed victory in Donabate in a time of 2.52 was followed up with an even more impressive triumph in the Armagh City Marathon five weeks later.
There his time of 2.42:24 marked a new course record as he finished almost four and half minutes quicker than his closest rival Colum Gaile.
“I was delighted with this win,” English told The Echo. “It was a very tactical race and I did practically all the work from the front.
“I’m about 12 weeks back in training after having been out with injury, so it was great to get these wins.
“I’ll be hoping to finish in the low 2.30s in the Dublin Marathon, but I’ll do the Irish three quarter marathon first in Longwood in Westmeath in early October.”
