Enhancement and upgrade works continue in Corkagh Park

The enhancements and upgrades at Corkagh Park remain under construction, according to South Dublin County Council.

The proposals include an upgrade of the central part of the park to create a hub zone, with coffee shop, public plaza, seating and activity area, with space for picnics and play.

The proposals also include upgrades to existing car parks at St. John’s Road entrance and Green Isle Road entrance and other enhancements including an upgrade of the existing fairy woodland.

Construction work began on site last Autumn with the commencement of the café building, hub-zone and the Fairy Woodland Trail and is scheduled to last approximately 12 months.

Work commenced on the upgrade of the Green Isle car park in the Spring of this year. To reduce disruption to park users the contractor has endeavoured to keep the carpark partially open, rather than shut it completely, and the completion date of the carpark is mid-July.

St. John’s car park upgrade will commence thereafter.

The Fairy Woodland trail is nearing completion, and it is planned to open that facility once the landscape areas have fully established.

Works on the hub area and the café are progressing and the tender to seek café operators for the new facility is currently underway.

The Part 8 Planning Procedure for Proposed Enhancements and Upgrades at Corkagh Park was advertised for public consultation in 2021 and passed by the Council in February 2022.

Opened to the public in 1986, Corkagh Park consists of 120 hectares and was formerly part of Corkagh Demesne.

Updates on the construction progress and further details on the park upgrade can be found on South Dublin County Councils website: www.sdcc.ie/en/services/sport-and-recreation/parks/corkagh-park.html .
