Fancy flying the Tallaght flag outside your business or club?
FLY the flag for your hometown and purchase a Tallaght Unity flag, which is on limited offer until Friday, September 20.
The flag, which is a symbol of the area’s ‘past, present and future’ was first hoisted in April 2018, when it was raised outside the Dragon Pub in Tallaght Village.

The flag, which was designed by Springfield resident Seos Ó Colla, has a number of elements – including three blue, eight pointed stars, that represent Tallaght’s past, present and future.
The green strip represents the Tallaght mountains and the area’s parks and fields while the red deer symbolizes the Deer Park that was once owned by the families of Old Bawn House in the 17th century.
There is also the mythological association of the deer with Fionn Mac Cumhaill and his son Óisin, who have links to Glenasmole.

The flag is now flying outside a number of local businesses and clubs, including The Dragon, Molloys in Tallaght Village and St Anne’s GAA Club in Bohernabreena.
The flag has also been taken ‘on tour’ by a number of local groups and is a feature of community events, such as Tallafest.

The flag was adopted by the Tallaght Historical Society, which now works alongside Tallaght Community Council (TCC) in promoting and flying the Tallaght Unity flag.
Members of the public are being offered the chance to purchase their own Tallaght Unity Flag to fly outside their business or club, or to use at community events.
A large flag (6ft x 3ft with eyelets) costs €90 while a smaller flag (3ft hemmed) is available for €45.
