Father contravened safety order four times by threatening wife and son

A HUSBAND and father who contravened a safety order four times when he threatened his wife and his son received a six-month suspended sentence in Blanchardstown District Court.
David McGrath, aged 50, with an address at James Connolly Park, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to contravening a safety order on May 15 last by threatening David McGrath junior and to contravening a safety order on May 15 by threatening Sandra McGrath.
He also pleaded guilty to contravening a safety order on November 26 last by threatening David McGrath junior with a knife and to contravening a safety order also on November 26 by threatening to throw the contents of a deep fat fryer over Sanrda McGrath both at his home address at James Connolly Park.
Sergreant Geraldine McManigan told Judge David McHugh that at 7.30pm on May 15 last, McGrath was in his home and he was highly intoxicated.
She said that McGrath went into his son’s bedroom and grabbed him and threatened him.
She said McGrath then threatened his wife.
Sgt McManigan said there was an earlier incident on November 26, 2017. Judge McHugh indicated that he had heard enough.
McGrath’s solicitor, John O’Doherty, said his client’s son was 24 and he had wanted the son to get out of bed. He said McGrath was now attending AA.
Judge McHugh sentenced McGrath to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years and urged him to continue attending AA.
