TALLAGHT’S Civic Theatre is set to host a dance show aimed at children this April, which presents the children’s tale ‘Peter and the Wolf’ in a new light.

The dance show will turn the classic children’s tale on its head, instead the fittingly named show ‘The Wolf and Peter’ will present the story from the perspective of the wolf.

The performance, by the multi-award winning CoisCéim Dance Theatre, has already successfully toured in the UK and will be stopping off in Tallaght as part of a nationwide tour, before bringing the show to Australia in the summer.

The show is filled with music and fun, featuring five dancers and a live piano accompaniment, which sees a whole host of characters including a duck, a bird and a cat come to life.

David Bolger, CoisCéim’s Artistic Director, said: “It has been an absolute delight to reinterpret this classic in a way that speaks to the current generation, while being respectful to the richness of the original music and dance.

“I am thrilled that through the support of the Arts Council, we are able to bring ‘The Wolf and Peter’ to younger audiences throughout Ireland this spring.

‘The Wolf and Peter’ also marks the CoisCéim Dance Theatre’s first foray into performing for children, the group previously choreographed opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics and the Ryder Cup.

Tickets for the 7.00pm show on Monday April 3 are €10, while tickets for the 11.00am Tuesday April 4 show for schools are €5.

The show’s running time is approximately one hour, and more details are available online at civictheatre.ie
