Fire Brigade invites feedback from public on five year operations plan
DUBLIN Fire Brigade made a presentation at the Housing SPC meeting this week in South Dublin County Council, in relation to their five year fire and emergency operations plan.
A revised Dublin Fire Brigade Section 26 Plan is overdue for the 2023-2028 period, and the preparation of a plan is a statutory obligation as stated in the Fire Services Act.
The fire brigade are also asking residents for feedback in an online survey – deadline for that is June 16.
The plan sets out the current fire and emergency arrangements within the greater Dublin region and also sets out plans and targets for the fire authority for the next five years.
DFB want to ensure that what they are doing is in line with public expectations.
Two fire stations are located in South Dublin County – Tallaght and Rathfarnham.
Tallaght Fire Station is known as ‘Number Seven’ and covers the two busiest roads in the State.
Located on Belgard Road (DFB’s Bravo District), the station has 68 personnel and crew are divided over four watches (A,B,C and D) to achieve the required minimum personnel levels 24/7, 365 days per annum.
This means that Tallaght Fire Station has 12 personnel present at all times, which is appropriate to deal with the risk within the station’s functional area.
Tallaght is a two-pump station with an ambulance, and covers two Aerodromes.
Meanwhile, Rathfarnham Fire station, known as ‘Number Eight’, regularly responds to incidents in the Dublin mountains.
Located on Nutgrove Avenue in DFB’s Alpha District, Rathfarnham station has 44 personnel, crew divided over four watches, which means eight are present at all times.
Rathfarnham is a one-pump station with an ambulance.
