Four family members charged with a riot

FOUR members of a family in Clondalkin charged in connection with a riot last year have been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court.

John Stokes, John Stokes Jnr, Edward Stokes and Martin Stokes were before Judge David McHugh in Blanchardstown District Court for service of their book of evidence.

John Stokes, aged 50, John Stokes, aged 24, Edward Stokes, aged 28, and Martin Stokes, aged 30 all with addresses at Oldcastle Park Green, Clondalkin, are charged with committing violent disorder at Oldcastle Park Green on January 22, 2017.

Martin Stokes and the younger John Stokes are also charged with possession of a slash hook at Oldcastle Park Green on the above date.

Solicitor for the DPP, Jonathan Antonotti, told Judge McHugh that the book of evidence was ready to be served in respect of each accused.

He said the DPP had consented for the four defendants to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.

Judge McHugh issued each defendant with the alibi caution and sent them forward for trial to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
