Four months for man caught in possession of heroin
A MAN who was caught with heroin on Wood Quay and drove without insurance has been jailed for four months by Blanchardstown District Court.
Judge David McHugh heard that Eddie Brennan has 111 previous convictions including 27 for no insurance.

Brennan, aged 46, with an address at Tor An Rí Lane, Balgaddy, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to simple possession of heroin at Wood Quay, Dublin 8, on September 5, 2018.
He also pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no driving licence at Ballyowen Road in Lucan on April 23, 2018.
A garda told Judge McHugh that on September 5, 2018, he observed Brennan in a drugs transaction with two other males.
He said he stopped Brennan and found him in possession of two €15 deals of heroin.
Presenting Sergeant Maria Callaghan said that on April 23, 2018, the gardai stopped Brennan in a car on the Ballyowen Road.
She said Brennan had no insurance or driving licence and was disqualified at the time.
Sgt. Callaghan said Brennan had 111 previous convictions, of which 27 were for no insurance.
At Blanchardstown Court on November 14, 2018, he had been fined €80 for trespass.
At the same court on May 31, 2016, he had been sentenced to four months jail and received a two-year driving ban.
Brennan’s solicitor, Terry Hanahoe, said his client was a father of three children.
He said Brennan is on methadone and on drugs for his psychiatric condition.
Mr Hanahoe said his client had some psychiatric problems in the past, but had now “changed tack” due to the support of his partner.
He said Brennan has no other charges before the court.
Judge McHugh said Brennan has “an appalling record”.
He added: “I would say that a large part of his psychiatric problems are due to his misuse of drugs.”
He fined Brennan €300 for the possession of heroin and sentenced him to four months jail with a 15-year driving ban for having no insurance.
