Fourth year students Cycle for mental health

ONLY two weeks in their new school building and the students of Kingswood Community College have already jumped on their bikes for a good cause.
On Tuesday, transition year students and staff took part in a Cycle against Suicide, peddling a distance of 276 kilometres.

According to teacher Una Buggy: “Students cycled a distance of 276 kilometres in order to raise awareness about suicide in the hope of creating a world where mental health stigma is replaced by hope, understanding and accessible help.”
After three years in prefabs, Kingswood Community College moved into its new building earlier this month.
Students are now based in a spacious, specially-designed learning hub that boasts 30 mainstream classes and additional purpose-built rooms for subjects such as art, technology, wood work, home economics, technical graphics and music.
There are also six science labs, a special needs classroom, library and multi-use hall.
Some 525 students and 48 staff started in the new building, which has the capacity to grow to a 1,000 pupil school.
